Two scarce exhibition brochures devoted to the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari, issued in connection with presentations of his work and preserved together as a set. The brochures contain texts by Rudolph Fox and Dino Buzzati and document Molinari's distinctive sculptural practice. His work combines fantastic and sometimes surreal imagery with strongly expressive forms and the direct use of materials such as metal. Molinari became particularly known for strange, almost totemic figures whose apparent immobility and mysterious presence fascinated Dino Buzzati. His production developed from works in copper during the 1960s toward the use of steel and other materials in later decades. These two short publications, dated 1967 and 1983, provide period documentation of Molinari's artistic career and are of particular interest to collectors of Italian modern sculpture, exhibition catalogues and art ephemera.
