This scholarly study examines the life and work of the Dutch Renaissance humanist Alardus Amsteldaremus (1491–1544), a contemporary of Erasmus and an important figure in Northern European humanism. B. De Graaf reconstructs Alardus' career, intellectual network and literary output, and provides a valuable bibliography of his writings and related sources.
