Technical competition document prepared for the 2005 international architectural design competition for the Baiyun International Conference Center in Guangzhou, China. The publication sets out the technical framework, programme, site conditions, design requirements and competition parameters for the development of a major new conference and convention complex at the western foot of Baiyun Mountain. The project was conceived as a prestigious venue for national and international conferences and comprised an extensive programme including the main conference facilities, supporting functions and hotels. The competition formed the basis for one of Guangzhou's major public architectural projects of the period. The winning proposal was developed by B2Ai, then BURO II & ARCHI+I, in collaboration with the Design Institute of CITIC; the team won the international competition in August 2005. Their concept divided the extensive programme into several volumes and sought to integrate the complex with Baiyun Mountain and the surrounding landscape through a system of connections and landscaped bridges. The completed complex has a floor area of approximately 272,000 m² and was put into use in January 2007. A scarce technical competition publication of particular interest for architects, urban planners, architectural researchers and collectors of international architectural competition documents.
