Le Corbusier et Pessac 1914-1928. Documentation graphique et photographique = Graphic and Photographic Documentation by Brian Brace Taylor is a bilingual French-English architectural study devoted to Le Corbusier's work at Pessac near Bordeaux, particularly the celebrated Quartiers Modernes Frugès. Commissioned by industrialist Henry Frugès, the Pessac development became one of Le Corbusier's most significant early experiments in modern housing and urban design. The publication documents the development through architectural drawings, plans and photographs and places the project within Le Corbusier's architectural investigations between 1914 and 1928. The Pessac houses explored ideas that became fundamental to modern architecture, including standardisation, rational construction, reinforced concrete, geometric volumes, roof terraces, flexible spatial organisation and the expressive use of architectural polychromy. At the same time, the project provides an important case study in the relationship between an architect's original design and the ways inhabitants subsequently adapt buildings to everyday life. / Le Corbusier et Pessac 1914-1928 de Brian Brace Taylor est une étude architecturale bilingue français-anglais consacrée aux réalisations de Le Corbusier à Pessac, près de Bordeaux, et notamment aux célèbres Quartiers Modernes Frugès. Richement illustrée de documents graphiques et photographiques, cette publication examine l'évolution du projet et les recherches de Le Corbusier sur l'habitat moderne, la standardisation, les techniques constructives, les volumes géométriques et la polychromie architecturale. Publiée en 1972 avec la Fondation Le Corbusier et Harvard University, elle constitue une documentation spécialisée sur l'une des réalisations majeures de la première période de Le Corbusier et présente un intérêt particulier pour l'histoire du Mouvement moderne, du logement social et de l'urbanisme du XXe siècle.
