Article number 10223027

An illustrated anthology presenting a broad selection of traditional African sculpture, assembled by William Fagg and Margaret Plass, both noted specialists in African art. The volume brings together masks, figures and other sculptural objects from different African peoples and regions, emphasizing the variety of forms, materials and artistic traditions found across the continent. The photographs allow the works to be studied as artistic creations while the accompanying material places them within their cultural context.
