The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club, commonly known as The Pickwick Papers, is Charles Dickens’s first novel and one of the great comic classics of Victorian literature. The story follows Samuel Pickwick and the members of the Pickwick Club as they travel through England encountering eccentric characters, humorous adventures, legal troubles and social satire. Combining comedy, sentiment and sharp observation of nineteenth-century English society, the novel established Dickens as one of the leading writers of his age.
