Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with Rijksmuseum on the Scheldt: Masterpieces from the Treasure House of the Netherlands, an exhibition at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp presenting important paintings from the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Organized while the Rijksmuseum was undergoing a major renovation, the exhibition brought a selection of Dutch masterpieces to Antwerp and placed them in dialogue with works from the museum's own collection. Particular attention is given to sixteenth-century Mannerism and seventeenth-century Caravaggism, with paintings illustrating the artistic connections and contrasts between the Northern and Southern Netherlands. This illustrated catalogue by An Sijsmans, Nico Van Hout and Sandra Janssens provides an introduction to the exhibition and its selected masterpieces, making it a concise reference work on Dutch and Flemish Old Master painting and the collections of the Rijksmuseum and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp. The exhibition opened on 9 October 2004 and was ultimately extended through 31 December 2007
