Lawrence Carroll is an exhibition publication issued by Buchmann Galerie in Cologne in connection with the gallery's 1998 presentation of work by Lawrence Carroll. The exhibition Lawrence Carroll – Paintings took place from 6 March to 18 April 1998 and included works such as Folded Canvas, Large Painting, Untitled (Puzzle Painting) and Wall Piece. Carroll's practice occupies a distinctive territory between painting, sculpture and object, using materials such as canvas, wood, oil, wax and house paint to create works with a pronounced physical and spatial presence. Rather than treating a painting solely as a flat image, Carroll explored volume, surface, construction, material and the relationship of the object to the surrounding space.
