Bob Brownell began gunsmithing on a professional basis in 1939, and devoted his efforts full-time to serving the gunsmith trade. He was Gun Editor for The Sporting Goods Dealer for over 12 years, Gun Editor for Shooting Industry for two years. He edited and published THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MODERN FIREARMS, PARTS & ASSEMBLY in 1960. In 1969, Bob published GUNSMITH KINKS®, followed by GUNSMITH KINKS® II in 1983. This volume, GUNSMITH KINKS® III, was compiled and published after his death (in 1991) from past “Newsletters” and Bob’s extensive file of letters from friends and customers. The Editor, Bob’s son, Frank Brownell, has been in the firearms trade his entire life, except for time spent in college and in the Navy. Compilation and Organization was done by Reid Coffield, a working gunsmith who has been with the firm since 1982 as Head of their Technical Support Group. The dust jacket cartoon is by Bob Albrecht, who also did dust jacket cartoons for GUNSMITH KINKS® and GUNSMITH KINKS® II. Bob, now retired from full-time commercial art, is a life-long collector, gunman and fisherman. His quirky sense of humor makes for marvelous cartoons. F.
