The FIRST BOOK of AMERICAN HISTORY by Henry Steele Commager A well-known writer and authority in the field of American history tells anew one of the most exciting stories in the world, that of the United States of America. Here is not a bare recitation of dates and facts, but a simply told and moving narrative of a land and its people. The crucial events of the nation's history are highlighted, and with great insight Dr. Commager explains the part America's people have played in them. In telling of the momentous centuries during which a weak little chain of colonies grew to be a world power, Dr. Commager catches the full sweep and splendor of his story, and history becomes truly colorful and alive.
