This volume VI from the A. & C. Black Turner-illustrated edition of The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott, Bart. carries particular biographical resonance, pairing Scott’s poetry with views closely tied to his own life and literary inspiration. The frontispiece presents Loch Coriskin (now commonly spelled Loch Coruisk) on the Isle of Skye, engraved by Henry Le Keux after Turner’s dramatic Highland composition. The title-page vignette shows Abbotsford, Scott’s own home, creating a direct visual link between poet and place. These plates, originally prepared in the 1830s for the Cadell edition, were among the most admired in the series for their blend of topographical accuracy and romantic atmosphere.
